Pigs in blankets are a staple for…. well, anytime you like really. They tend to appear on tables during the holiday season for their snackability and the fact they satisfy everyone’s culinary cravings! But wait, these aren’t pigs in blankets! Actually, in the UK, they call bacon-wrapped mini sausages pigs in blankets! You can enjoy these delicious bites without all that puff pastry messing with your sugars!
- 12 small chorizo or other high quality sausage
- 4¼ oz. bacon
- 1 apple or pear
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 12 tooth picks
- Wash and deseed the fruit. You can leave the peel on if you like. Cut into 12 thin wedges.
- Place a wedge of fruit on each sausage and wrap half a slice of bacon around. Secure with a tooth pick.
- Fry in butter or bake in the oven until the bacon is crispy and the sausage is cooked through.
