Grain-Free Cinnamon Apple Scones

When you just need a little something special, this is a great alternative to those dangerous coffee-shop sweets.


  • 1 apple, peeled and cored
  • 3 cups almond flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients. Using your fingers, mix in the cold butter pieces until the mixture is crumbly and sand-like. Place in refrigerator to keep cold.

In a small bowl, mix together the eggs, apple cider vinegar, and honey. Pour into the center of the dry ingredients and mix gently with a spatula until just barely combined. Toss in the apples and carefully mix with clean hands.

Form the dough into a ball and pat out into a disc about 3/4″ thick. Using a sharp knife, cut the disc into 6 wedges and pull apart, spacing about 2″ apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.   Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
